If you have periodontal disease (periodontitis) or have had a deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) in the past, you may need periodontal maintenance cleanings every 3–4 months. These visits help control gum disease, prevent infection, and protect your bone and tooth structure.

Devoted Dental offers oral sedation options to help patients with dental anxiety feel calm and comfortable during treatment. We prescribe anxiety-relieving medications such as Valium or Xanax for patients who may feel nervous about dental procedures.

Oral sedation is available for approved patients after a thorough review of medical history by the doctor. If appropriate, a prescription will be sent to your pharmacy before your treatment appointment, and detailed instructions will be provided to ensure your safety.

Devoted Dental does not have an in-house periodontist, but we do treat patients with gum disease (periodontal disease) at all of our Metro Detroit locations. Our licensed hygienists provide scaling and root planing (deep cleanings) to manage periodontal infection and prevent further bone or gum loss.

If a patient has advanced periodontal disease or requires specialized gum treatment or surgery, we partner with trusted local periodontists and will provide a referral when appropriate. Your dentist will evaluate your gum health during your exam and recommend the right level of care based on your periodontal charting and pocket depths.
